She was born in Santa Monica California, the United States of America on the 26th of November in 1986. She is the child of Vincenzo Barba, her father and Valerie Barba. She and her family moved from Point Pleasant in New Jersey when she was six. In New Jersey, she finished her education at Red Bank Catholic High School. Following her graduation from Catholic University with a Bachelor's in Architecture and a Master's in Architecture, she continued to study at the school. As a violinist from the age of 4"Violingirl" was her name. Her performances led to the use of her nickname. She also taught children from the area playing the violin. She also sang Free throughout 1976 when she made her audition to the sixth season of American Idol at age 19. The show eliminated her at the 16th spot.
